Background Info
"My husband is 64 and has been a diabetic for 31 years and has what the doctors term 'brittle diabetic' which means it is hard to control - no matter what they try to do.
About 10 years ago troubles began with his heart, he had to have a replacement aorta valve and at the same time his kidney's were in decline. He retired from work. Five years ago he was put on dialysis, three years into that they gave him a transplanted kidney but it never worked from day one so his dialysis continued. He has been on immune suppressant drugs since the transplant and because of this and also his diabetic state every infection that floats past him - he gets.
He contracted diverticulitis in the bowel last year which burst and caused peritonitis ending up in hospital where they gave him a stoma and he now wears a bag. They said this could be reversible but because of his heart they are not optimistic of this ever happening.
Three months after the stoma operation he had a cardiac arrest while dialysing, fortunately he got help straight away but while in hospital for that got a couple of bed sores, one on his heel and one on his shin. These turned nasty and eventually were diagnosed as 'calciphylaxis' an acute, very painful morbid condition which can return anywhere at anytime, even attacking the internal organs. It is a very rare condition and they gave him 12 months at the most.
The doctors got him off all calcium medication and once out of hospital they sent him for some hyperbaric treatment. We travelled to Brisbane for 40 treatments and seemed to have it pretty well beaten even though dressings were still being changed every day at home for months after the hyperbaric stopped.
Christmas Eve 2005 a little dog scratched his big toe and it turned into calciphylaxis. Diabetics have almost no circulation in their feet so I knew we were in trouble. Off we went again for three more weeks to the hyperbaric chamber but they said they could do no more we just had to keep on with the dressings being changed and hope for the best.

When I found Footsies I was desperate for something to help as the calciphylaxis had spread into his second toe and was turning black. The surgeon was called in as they were considering amputation.
My husband started wearing the Footsies in April, the very first morning after wearing them we noticed all the blood vessels in his feet were standing up and his feet were warm, unbelievable! We kept up with the Footsies every night for almost two months then felt like we could cut down and he now wears them approximately every third night.
His toes have healed completely now which has taken approximately two months since starting the Footsies treatment. Everyone keeps saying how well he looks, he's able to sleep better without sleeping tablets and he is in no pain with his feet and legs at all so there really is no wonder he is looking better.
I am so thankful for finding Footsies, I don't know where we would of been without them and we will continue using them for the long term – my husband is on prednisolone (the immune suppressant drug) which makes his skin very thin and the very smallest knock can cause him to bleed, which in turn can turn nasty.
